Multicultural Topics in Communication Sciences & Disorders

This website is a work-in-progress of the graduate students in Speech-Language Pathology at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. It is intended to be a resource for SLPs in the Portland area working with individuals from a different cultural and/or linguistic background than their own. It differs from many resources because we are including cultural background information as well as linguistic information, realizing that valid assessment & intervention for communication disorders can not be taking the same tools and translating them to a new language, rather the whole approach to the disorder will be culturally embedded.
